Why we like this dog
Chimichanga is an energetic, high-spirited 11-month-old Dutch Shepherd female with a strong personality and plenty of presence. She possesses the kind of confidence that immediately stands out, approaching the world with determination and a natural willingness to engage whatever is placed in front of her. Environmentally, she has been exceptionally impressive, showing confidence across a wide variety of surfaces, settings, and situations. New environments don't seem to phase her, and she carries herself with the kind of self-assurance that is difficult to manufacture through training alone. Physically, Chimi is a striking female with beautiful brindle coloration that turns heads wherever she goes. Her athletic build, expressive eyes, and confident posture give her the look many people seek in a Dutch Shepherd. Beneath that appearance is a female with a pronounced dominant streak and a strong sense of independence. She is not a soft dog and tends to approach life with conviction and purpose. Her sister is currently performing very well in detection training, and there is little reason to believe Chimi would not excel in a similar role. She demonstrates the environmental confidence, nerve, and willingness to work that often form the foundation of successful detection dogs. Whether developed for scent work, an active sport home, or an experienced owner looking for a capable companion, Chimi possesses many of the traits that make Dutch Shepherds such versatile working partners. Chimi is best suited for someone who appreciates a dog with character and confidence. She is the type of female that wants to participate in life rather than simply watch it happen. With continued development, structure, and training, she has the potential to become a very capable and rewarding partner for the right person. She is not merely a pretty brindle female she is a dog with substance, attitude, and plenty of potential still ahead of her.
Honest, ongoing observations
What we're watching
Chimi possesses plenty of confidence and environmental strength, but as she continues to mature, we are paying close attention to how her dominant personality develops and how readily she accepts guidance and direction from her handler. She is a strong-minded young female who naturally prefers to make her own decisions, which can be an asset when properly channeled. We are particularly interested in watching her continued development around impulse control, handler engagement, and her willingness to work cooperatively while maintaining the confidence and initiative that make her such an appealing prospect. As with many confident young Dutch Shepherds, maturity and experience will play a significant role in shaping the finished dog.
